The Town of Schodack is seeking applicants for a FT Highway Department Operator II. Requirements include: high school graduate or in possession of a high school equivalency diploma, (1) year of full time paid experience in highway/road construction experience and training, must possess a NYS Class B CDL license and possession of license is required throughout employment. Schodack residency preferred. EOE.

Position Summary: The work involves responsibility for the safe, efficient and economical operation of one or more types of moderately complex motor equipment in the performance of assigned tasks. The job requires performing recurring manual duties related to the operation of the equipment and activities of the department. Work is usually performed under direct supervision or employee may be asked to supervise laborers as specific tasks require.

- Performs manual labor such as loading and unloading trucks, digging ditches, flushing and cleaning culverts, snow shoveling, painting, road maintenance work and related activities

- Operates a variety of light and heavy duty motor vehicles to include construction equipment, tractors, dump-trucks, trailers, crew cab vehicles, pick –up trucks, backhoes, loaders, compaction equipment and street sweepers.

- Shovels, rakes and compacts asphalt.

- Uses equipment and vehicles to excavate, fill, level, haul, compact, transport workers, tools, supplies, materials and other equipment in the construction and maintenance of highways, water and sewer lines and related activities.

- Operates a snow plow with wing or related snow and ice removal equipment

- Services, performs minor mechanical repairs on vehicles and maintains them in a clean condition.

- Assists others in connection with line and grade surveys.

- Performs miscellaneous tasks in the shop or field during off-season.

Minimum requirement:  Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, and; EITHER:

(a) One (1) year of full time paid experience in the construction and maintenance of roads,highways and related projects; (OR) (b) One (1) year of any equivalent combination of experience and training as defined by thelimits of (a).

The Town of Schodack is seeking applicants for a FT Building Inspector. This is a provisional position pending passing the next available Civil Service test. Required knowledge includes practices, principles, materials and tools used in building construction and knowing the requirements of the NYS Fire Prevention and Building & Zoning code. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: review and approval of plans with applications for building permits and inspecting existing structures and those under construction. Also investigates complaints of Building Code violations and serves notices of code violations. Qualifications include either graduation from a regionally accredited New York State college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or graduation from High School and (5) years’ experience as a building contractor or journeyman level trade worker. Schodack residency is preferred. EOE.

The Town of Schodack is seeking applicants for the position of Assessor. The Assessor will be responsible for annual valuation of real property in conformance with NYS Office of Real Property Tax Services. Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications for Assessor defined in 20 NYCRR 8188 Section 8188-2.2 (https://www.tax.ny.gov/pdf/publications/orpts/training/qualcert/assessor_minquals.pdf). A prospective candidate must be approved by the NYS Office of Real Property Services before appointment by completing the Application for Qualifications Review (RP-3006 (https://www.tax.ny.gov/pdf/current_forms/orpts/rp3006_fill_in.pdf).
