Building Permit - Do I Need One?

 

DO I NEED A BUILDING PERMIT???

Home owners and contractors need building permits for various construction projects from the Town of Schodack Building Department.

Residential Building permits are required, including but NOT limited to the following projects: new homes, additions, dormers, demolition, sprinkler systems and lawn irrigation systems, garages, renovations, replacement furnace, central air conditioning system, fences, roof, siding, windows, swimming pools, decks and porches, fireplaces, chimneys and wood stoves, sheds, and gazebos, plumbing extensions, wind generator, and site development.

Permit applications submitted for any project exceeding the amount of $20,000 are required to be accompanied with engineer stamped plans.

Commercial Building permits are required, including but NOT limited to the following:  new buildings, cell towers, fences, open buildings, signs (new or replacement), fuel storage tanks, elevators, wind generator, roof, siding, windows, sheds, garages, demolition, renovations, and additions and site development.
