TOWN OF SCHODACK TRANSFER/RECYCLING STATION
RULES AND REGULATIONS (Effective: January 1, 2008)

  1. The Town of Schodack Transfer/Recycling Station is for use by Town residents only and is for disposal of refuse generated within the Town of Schodack. Proof of residency and vehicle registration must be provided in order to utilize facility.
     
  2. Personal checks or money orders are the only means of payment accepted at the Transfer Station.
     
  3. Household construction and demolition materials shall be permitted only as indicated in 6(e).
     
  4. The Schodack Transfer/Recycling Station area shall be open for disposal as follows:
    Tuesday 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
    Wednesday 7:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
    Thursday 7:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
    Friday 7:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
    Saturday 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
    Brush will be accepted up to 30 minutes before closing each day.
    It shall be closed all day Sunday, Monday and Holidays as posted (below).  
     
  5. Residents will be required to pay for each 30-gallon bag, or portion thereof, of refuse disposed of as follows:
    1. 52-bag punch card $78.00
    2. 30-gallon bag or equivalent $ 2.00 each
      (previously purchased punch cards will be honored)
    3. 12-bag punch card $20.00
       
  6. There will be an additional charge for:
    1. Refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, air conditioners $ 8.00 each
    2. Metal goods: Stoves, washers, dryers, water tanks,
        riding lawn mowers, bulk metals$ 6.00 each
    3. Tires (car and light truck) $ 4.00 each
        Tires with rims $ 6.00
        Larger tires *priced by size*
    4. **Mattress, couch, stuffed chair, carpet $ 8.00 each
    5. Household construction debris, 30 gallon container
        (Maximum 5 containers/day) $ 8.00 each
    6. Propane tanks $ 6.00 each
    7. Televisions, Computers with a monitor $12.00 each
    8. Computer tower only $ 2.00 each
    9. Push Mowers $ 4.00 each
    10. Gas Grills, Bicycles $ 2.00 each
    11. Misc. Electronic - printers, copiers, typewriters,
      radios, microwaves $ 2.00 each

    **Bulky Furniture, i.e.: Sofas, chairs, mattresses, rugs, etc. MAXIMUM OF TWO (2) PIECES PER DAY.

    The Director of the Transfer/Recycling Station or his designee has sole authority to determine ultimate cost of bulky items brought in.

  7. RECYCLING IS MANDATORY. NO RECYCLABLES SHOULD BE PLACED IN THE REFUSE CONTAINER.
     
  8. THE FOLLOWING RECYCLABLES WILL BE ACCEPTED AT NO CHARGE:
    1. Newspapers/Magazines
    2. Tin cans
    3. Glass bottles/jars
    4. Plastic bottles or containers (only 1 - 7 recyclables)
    5. Used oil and filter
    6. Batteries - car and household (non-alkaline)
    7. Anti-Freeze
    8. Corrugated cardboard
    9. Clothes - Salvation Army container only
    10. Brush and logs less than six (6) inches in diameter
       
  9. MATERIALS PROHIBITED AT THE TOWN OF SCHODACK TRANSFER/RECYCLING STATION:
    1. Industrial waste
    2. Infectious waste
    3. Sludge
    4. Hazardous waste
    5. Commercial construction and demolition debris
    6. Trees and tree stumps
    7. Gas, Kerosene and Fuel Oil
    8. Ashes of any kind

As a consideration to our neighbors, all open loads should be covered and secured while traveling to and from the Transfer Station.

SPECIAL DATES: SPRING AND FALL CLEANUP HOURS: 7 A.M. - 3 P.M.
SPRING CLEANUP - MAY 15, 16, AND 17, 2008
FALL CLEANUP - OCTOBER 23, 24, AND 25, 2008
HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE DAY - SEPTEMBER 27, 2008 (at the Town Highway Garage)

*Transfer Station is closed on Mondays; therefore, pursuant to the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Monday holidays will be observed on Tuesday.

Any violations of these rules and regulations shall void tipping privileges.
