Office of the Town Supervisor
Schodack Names Liaisons to Departments Supervisor Beth Secor has appointed Town Board Members as Liaisons to key departments to enhance Town operations and make local government more open. "Pursuant to the authority of Town Law Section 63, I hereby appoint the following council members as Liaisons to these Schodack departments: Frank Curtis - Highway Department; Kenneth Stinner - Police Department; Debra Young - Transfer Station and Recycling; and K. Michal Ziegler - Water/Sewer and Park." These departments account for a significant portion of the Town's annual spending plan. Many local municipalities utilize the liaison system to encourage more participation by and accountability of council members. Working with department heads will allow Town Board members to better understand budgetary challenges, collective bargaining agreements governing procedures and overtime, and enhance their ability to suggest new fiscal strategies. It also provides an additional resource for residents to share concerns. "I am confident that the essential services offered to Town residents by these departments can be improved in a fiscally responsible manner with the increased input of the liaisons. The strength of the Town Board is that five members with divergent skills and outlooks must work together to move the Town's priorities forward. I look forward to this exciting opportunity to enhance Town services." For your information, here's County Executive Kathy Jimino's budget message. It's been a busy winter.
