Town of Schodack Website
Here's how it works The Town of Schodack website is designed to work with ANY browser you may be using (FireFox, Mozilla, IE [back through version 5.x], Netscape [recent versions], Safari, Konqueror, and even Lynx) regardless of your operating system and, generally, without creating issues related to the size of your screen. Moreover, you won't need to allow Javascript or Java, either, except for access to some maps or to use the "Back" or "Back one page" button found on some pages (example below, in the line of link samples). If you encounter problems that are screen-size, browser or OS related, please help us fix them by describing what you were doing, which page you attempted to access, and your OS and browser, and what happened (precise error messages preferred; "It didn't work" isn't really helpful) in an email to the webmaster. (See also the Webmaster page.) Documents are generally in .html (w3c and ADA standards compliant, using only css that common browsers display correctly). Nonetheless, some documents (such as copies of town laws, policies and Planning and Zoning Board minutes) are posted in MS Word ".doc" or Adobe Acrobat ".pdf" format. Those documents can be opened from the web with Microsoft Word (commercial), Open Office (free, available at the Open Office site), and various other free programs designed to allow you to read (but not edit) MS word documents. Documents in Adobe Acrobat .pdf format can be opened with Acrobat Reader (free, at from Adobe). The next five paragraphs are chiefly for newcomers to the web; experts can skip to the description of the information available at schodack.org. You can click on any of the titles (underlined, blue letters, in the blue column on the left of this page and some others) in order to reach a particular page here at "www.schodack.org/" which will provide information and -- in some cases -- access to services. The Events Calendar provides a daily update on both governmental and private events. If your church, Fire Company, club or public service group has an event, please take a look here, for the information we need to post your "do" to the calendar (and for a link so you can email that information to us). We'll try -- with your help -- to post events up to 60 days ahead of your event and to keep the calendar current. If you're new to the web, note that underlined words (like "Events Calendar" above) are usually links. This site will always try to provide at least a pretty good hint of where your browser will be pointed by the way we name the link. Home page | email Town officers? | Maps? | Back Bars like this are also navigation devices (or "links"). You can click on any of the selections listed to get the related page. Some links (often captioned with the word "email" or an email address will start your mail program if you have your browser configured to do so. Links may also be in the form of pictures (for example the small photo near the top right of the front page) or symbols. As with the verbal links, when you move your mouse over a graphical link the cursor will change from an arrow or an "I-bar" to a hand. A second or two later, a small yellow box may pop up on your screen with a little additional information. |

Simply put, if it's about Schodack we'll try to find a way to post it. Minutes and Agendas for the various Board meetings can be found on the front page and/or on the relevant body's own page. Fire companies can post their schedules and so on; so can community groups. And you'll find a page on the operating schedule, holidays and recycling guidelines for the Transfer Station here. Want to find out if the Castleton "Village-wide Garage Sale" is coming up soon or the hours and flavors for Schodack Valley Fire Department's next "Pizza Night?" The Schodack Calendar Page is the place to check. If you're looking for zoning information or a building permit, we have links on the Zoning page or the Building Department page. What you won't find You won't find any political ads. Neither will we provide an outlet for commercial advertising campaigns or groups which violate the town's anti-discrimination and harrassment policies. Privacy
This website, And if you have something you'd like to have added, please use the email page to start an email to to the person or department concerned or write to the Supervisor, bethk.secor@schodack.org. |
