A New York State Designated "Quality Community"

The Town of Schodack Justice Court is responsible for traffic, criminal, civil, environmental conservation, local law and small claims matters occurring in the Town of Schodack. The court also handles parking and traffic tickets. The court has two Town Justices, the Honorable Paul W. Peter and the Honorable Bruce J. Wagner.

The Justice Court is located in the Schodack Town Hall (see this town map or these area maps for location). From most points outside the town, drivers are advised to take I-90 to Exit 11W (if coming from the west) or Exit 11 (if arriving from the east).

• From the end of the 11-W ramp, proceed north on Routes 9/20 a short distance past Curtis Lumber on the right and move to the left lane to turn left on to Schuurman Road at the next traffic light. Make an immediate right into the Town Hall parking lot.
• If using the Exit 11 ramp, simply turn left and proceed north on Routes 9/20 past Curtis Lumber on the right and follow above directions.

The Justice Court is open Monday through Friday (except holidays) from 9 am to 4 pm. Court sessions are held Wednesday evenings at 6:00 pm.

Hon. Paul W. Peter (right) was appointed Town Justice in 1992 and was elected that same year. Justice Peter was subsequently re-elected in 1995, 1999 and 2003. He and his family own and operate Peter's Dairy. Justice Peter lives on the family farm with his wife, Jan, and their two children.

Hon. Bruce J. Wagner (left) was appointed Town Justice in 2002 and was elected that same year. Justice Wagner was subsequently re-elected in 2006. Justice Wagner is an attorney in private practice in Albany. He resides in Schodack with his wife, Janet, and their two children.
