How does it relate to my 'tax rate' and my actual tax bill?" The State Association of Government Finance Officers prepared an explanation. The Comptroller is Jennifer L. Mulligan, CPA. She is assisted by Laura Palmer, Assistant Comptroller and Susan Pilipczuk, Accountant. The Comptroller's office prepares the monthly abstract of claims for goods purchased or services provided to the Town. Anyone having a claim for payment from the Town should submit that claim by the first Monday of the month in order to be considered for payment at the monthly business meeting held on the second Thursday. Checks for approved payments are commonly processed and mailed within three to four days of the Town's Business Meeting. The Comptroller's Office staff maintains the Town's financial accounting records, provides assistance to the Town's independent auditor concerning the annual financial audit and single audit, provides assistance to representatives of the Office of the New York State Comptroller with audits and financial statement representations and prepares periodic reports to state and federal agencies, town officials, financial institutions, and residents. From time to time, the Comptroller also has a role in the FOIL process. |
