Schodack Comes Together for Swearing-in of Dowds, Young & Bult
Schodack residents packed the Town Hall on New Year's Day for the swearing-in of members of the Town Board, including new Supervisor Dennis Dowds, Councilwoman Debra Young and new Councilman James Bult Jr.
The oaths of office were administered to Dowds, Young and Bult by longtime Town Justice Paul Peters. Other elected officials on hand included Legislator Alex Shannon and Town Justice Bruce Wagner, with former Town Justice James Bult Sr. on hand for the swearing-in of his son.
Dowds, Young and Bult were elected this past November and join Council Members Ken Stinner and Frank Curtis on the Town Board.
On the snowy holiday morning, the three town officials sworn-in pledged their commitment to leading Schodack in a positive direction during 2010 and beyond. Dowds thanked family and supporters and said he and Town Clerk Donna Conlin had been discussing the obligations of his office. "Donna reminded me I have 13,000 new bosses, and I will keep that in mind every day and as I serve as your Supervisor. I am also honored to have an outstanding team on the Town Board who will help during the coming months," said Dowds. Both Young and Bult thanked their family and residents for support during the past election and pledged to work hard during the coming four years. Young is beginning her second term on the Town Board while Bult is beginning his first. "Schodack is a great place to live and Dennis, Jim and I are all honored to be selected to serve the residents of our town," said Young. |
